“In the Name of God” is a peace song, plain and simple. It is a call to all people to make war a thing of the past, to create a world that works for everyone, to ensure that no child has to go hungry, that no man or woman has to feel the sting of isolation, discrimination or brutality based on race, “class”, religion, gender, sexual orientation or any other characteristic external to who we truly are. The time is always right now to uplift and celebrate our diversity, to look beyond our differences, and to honor that which we hold in common.

How long will we heed the battle cry
Choosing weapons, choosing sides
Trade the truth for one more lie
How long must our children live with hatred
In this world that we’ve created
We can’t let another day go by
In the name of God, in the name of peace
In the name of mercy, we will find release
To feel that glory, to know that grace
To see it shining in every stranger’s face
To finally be forgiven
For all that we become and all we’re not
In the name of God
How long ‘til we dare to live the dream
Show the world that we believe
Change the course of history
How long ‘til there’s food for every mouth
Enough faith to end the doubt
Can you see it with me now?
In the name of God, in the name of peace
In the name of mercy, we will find release
To feel that glory, to know that grace
To see it shining in every stranger’s face
To finally be forgiven
For all that we become and all we’re not
In the name of God
So hold on, the light is gonna come
The long night will be over
And we will live as one
In the name of God, in the name of peace
In the name of mercy, we will find release
We’ll feel that glory, we’ll know that grace
We’ll see it shining in every stranger’s face
We’ll finally be forgiven
For all that we become and all we’re not
In the name of God
In the name of God
In the name of God
