Busted is a raw, hard-edged character study: a portrait of a woman who falls prey to the trappings and temptations of success - the unrivaled attention, easy money, easy access to drugs - only to discover these are but fleeting illusions as the first two fall away and the third becomes a crutch to prop up her crumbling ego. Inspired by real events and real people, she is a composite of many who have passed that way.

Lyrics

She bums a cigarette, ain’t got a light
Is there a gentleman in the room tonight?
She’s lookin’ good, she’s workin’ it
Buy her a drink, she just might get a little sweet on you, Baby
But don’t you go crazy
It don’t mean a thing – it’s just what she does
She finds an easy mark, and moves in, ‘cause she’s

Busted, broke-down
Been shackin’ up in shaky town
She’s strung out, too high
Hung out to dry
“Hey, mister, can ya’ spare a dime?”
She’s busted…

She used to be the queen, in her penthouse suite
She made the magazines, did the “meet and greet”
But there’s a price to pay for so much freedom
She loved the pills, but now she needs ‘em
She can’t get enough
That pretty face is getting’ kinda rough, ‘cause she’s

Busted, broke-down
Been shackin’ up in shaky town
She’s strung out, too high
Hung out to dry
“Hey, mister, can ya’ spare a dime?”
She’s busted…

In a couple of years, it won’t be so easy no more
She’s just another kind of casualty from another kind of war

Busted, broke-down
Been shackin’ up in shaky town
She’s strung out, too high
Hung out to dry
“Hey, mister, can ya’ spare a dime?”
She’s busted…
She’s busted...
